Back to Blighty! But our journey has been made a tad more complex due to the international airport being an hour away from Milan, despite it being called “Milan airport” and it being much closer to another city (never mind).
Once we discovered the taxis to the airport were 130e we searched for an alternative suspecting there would be an airport bus, and sure enough for 10e per person, we secured our passage to the airport. But best-laid plans were swept aside when you factored in the journey to the train station, then looking for the bus stop, the travel time and then finding our way from the bus stop to the Ryan Air check-in desk, through security and all the wonderfulness (if that’s a word) which that process usually entails.
But being at the airport 3 hours before our 16:10hrs flight should give us time for a late lunch before take off. All of the above considered and factored in means we need to begin our journey at 11:30am this morning.
So, as I said above, best-laid plans to have a few hours in Milan this morning are going to be difficult, but that’s the problem with anairport so far out of town [sigh].
Having said that, we’ve both enjoyed our mini-tour of north Italy and will probably return at some point to see more of the lakes which were a fleeting glimpse out of the train window as we travelled to and from Tirano.
