Our first day

First impressions of our hotel are still very favourable. We seem to have successfully crossed the line between the impression the brochure, website and travel agents created in our head of the hotel and the reality once we’d arrived.
Our room is located on the end of the triangle shape, on the third floor and is lovely.

Our lunch was really great. All our meals will be served on a buffet basis, which is the thing Matty likes most about ‘all inclusive’. Due to the traffic delays caused on our coach transfer from the airport we still arrived in time to enjoy a great lunch, albeit 15 mins before they stopped serving. Other hotels and restaurants we’ve eaten in have proved just to be offering the left-over at that late juncture, but they still had an extensive menu on offer.
After lunch we explored the hotel, then the boys wanted to explore the water park complex. We popped back to our room to change, agreeing with Luke that there was little point in exploring the water park fully clothed.

The water park is really fun. Our problem is that having good been to the best in Europe (by a long chalk), it’s easy to unfairly rubbish or belittle smaller parks. A good example of this was the wave pool. The overall size of the pool was quite small when compared to Siam Park’s pool, but it was fine and we all had fun. We then grabbed a two person inflatable hoop shaped like a figure of eight and climbed the large tower up to the queue line. The ride was worth the wait. I rode with Liz and the boys rode together. Liz squealed as we went down the first hill and then put her bottom down (probably in an attempt to slow us down). I responded by leaning back hard and encouraging the raft to speed along as quickly as possible. The ride was thrilling and lived up to my expectations entirely. Liz commented that she wished she’d lifted her bottom off the bottom a little as it got a little buffeted!
Following a quick once round on the lazy river we headed for a set of four flumes. The green all enclosed flume was very fast. Matty and I had to ride singley and afterwards we both commented that we lifted off the ride as we passed over the last hill. This reminded me of a ride that I pushed Charlotte down when we were in the Algarve, but we’d best not mention that (eh Char!). Luke was very proud to have ridden the blue open topped flume three times. Although it was the most gentle of the group he still flew down it really fast, probably because his light frame could almost skim along on top of the water current.

Having returned to the hotel to shower and change Matty route marched us to the dining room for food. Sadly because he was 10 minutes too early they were closed, so we grabbed a drink from the bar and went to sit in the sun. Constant clock-watching found us in the dining room only 5 minutes after opening time! We’ve had to adjust the method by which Matty selects a suitable table as he chose one in a massive draft that’d had Grandpa Hawkes upping sticks and moving to an alternative location. Having said that Matty didn’t care because he wasn’t really sat down for long enough to get cold. His strategy seems to be selecting small amounts of food which he rapidly stuffs down his neck before jumping up for a refill.
The menu and width of choice was once again wonderful, even Liz and Luke found things to eat without hunting about or raiding the kids “easy eats”. ( pizza, fish fingers and so on)
We’re planning to watch the show this evening but before it begins Matty has organised us again and dealt out the Monopoly card game we have, which we’re playing sitting in the main bar.
Tomorrow we aim to get to the water park early and try a few more rides, as it’s all included in our hotel deal.
I’ll have to stop writing now as I think I’ve just about exhausted his patience!
