After our short walk yesterday, we decided to embrace a lazy day today. It started this morning with a walk to a shop at the other end of the resort which sported a great pair of sunglasses, that are similar to RayBan’s orange Wayfarers. At £5 per pair, they’re a steal.
That done, we ambled back along the water’s edge until a rocky section of the beach forced us back on the main path. Pausing as we passed a cafe, I enquired if anyone would like to stop for a coffee. To my surprise, the ladies decided they would like a rest and to onboard some caffeine.
By the time we’d soaked up the view, enjoyed the scintillating conversation and drunk our drinks, our attention switched to the surf school which was in full swing. There must have been fifty or sixty people learning to surf. Some were luckier than others, managing to catch the wave and then stand up. Others not so much. They managed to get up into a crouch before tumbling off the board, or having the board thrown out from under them.

The ladies seem to have a knack for arriving back at the hotel for pre-lunch drinks, about 20 minutes before the restaurant opens for lunch. It’s like they planned it! After lunch, your scribe is sitting by the pool bar recording the events of this morning, while my companions are reading. Although it’s a bit distracting, due to the party of 25 lads on a stag do. All in ten on embarrassing the groom. They have him dressed in a bright pink T-shirt with large white letters that read “STAG”. As if that wasn’t bad enough they’ve convinced him to wear a massive pink tutu skirt. When I tell you they’re proper rowdy, I mean they’re very animated with constant rounds of clapping, cheering and chanting. I’m confident that the events of this trip will be long remembered and mentioned constantly in the wedding speeches.
When the sun is out, the pool area is very pleasant, but when it’s swallowed by the clouds, and the wind takes over it sure is chilly. And we’re reminded that it’s only early March. The big problem I have with sitting around the pool is that I’m forced to look at the wonderful Strelitzia. And to be reminded that due to our chilly winters, unless I can find somewhere inside to overwinter them, I’m unable to grow them myself.

Our last evening was spent chatting in the lounge bar, and a walk after our evening meal. Tonight we were at the musical fountain just in time to see it performing. Whilst it wasn’t as majestic as the one in Barcelona, it was very pretty. Unfortunately, you couldn’t hear any music.
Goodnight
